Dark Botanical Watercolour Art Print - Hemlock's End
This art print is part of a 3-painting collection of poisonous plants and the part of the anatomy they affect. The series started from a single painting from which the idea spiralled, and I shall definitely be continuing my dark fantasy art in this direction.

'Hemlock's End' features a hand in paralysis with the plant Conium maculatum (poison hemlock) coursing through it. This piece was inspired by this pervasive plant and its ability to paralyse - famous for being the end of Socrates. Hemlock is said to be used by witches and herbalists alike for both benevolent and dark purposes, and is easily confused with other less malicious plants.
This painting fits perfectly alongside other dark art prints and is a subtle nod to things more macabre. It shows the dark side of something beautiful, but in a subtle way, with the light greens and soft whites belying its deadly nature.
